Microsoft Live Sync

Since I registered the BJ2 with Microsoft, I've had access to some of Microsoft's tools, and MS Live Search was a free application so I thought I'd download it to compare with Yahoo Go v2.0.

The cool things first -- you can SPEAK your search query, not have to type it in. Other built-in apps include maps, directions, traffic, movies, and gas prices.

Unfortunately, like Yahoo Go 2.0, the movies and gas prices applications aren't GPS based, so selecting a geographic region of "Los Angeles, California" produces way too many results.

The map application, UNlick Yahoo Go 2.0, will use the GPS setup if you install the Modaco GPS hack listed above and configure the MS Live Search software to use COM4/19200 for the GPS unit. You'd think a Microsoft application would have the option to use the Windows Mobile-based GPS driver instead of requiring a COM port.

The directions application will also let you select "Current GPS Location" for starting/ending destinations, just like the Google Maps interface.
