A user named Klint contacted me through my site to ask if I had looked at PhotoAce for the BlackJack 2, and I admitted to him that I'd never heard of the app. He pointed me at a YouTube video of a demo of the application which had a link in the video description pointing to an online survey and offering a free copy of the application for a few minutes of your time to fill out their survey.
After answering questions about how happy I am with the BJ2, what attracted me to it, what features did I specifically like, where do I go for support when I have questions, etc., and downloaded a copy of the application -- I'm not sure whether I have the rights to distribute the CAB file or not, so I won't post a link here.
Overall, the application feels a little like a Yahoo Photo viewer widget that I've seen. It offers basic editing controls, such as converting your photos to black & white, apply a sepia effect, or attempt some color correction.
By default, the application searched my BJ2 and browsed EVERY graphic on the phone, not just the folders on the phone and my microSD card where my photos are specifically stored. So having to scan through hundreds of gif's and icons, I finally realized you could collapse the graphics groups.
There are other features like creating photo albums that seemed pretty slick, and the built-in slide show feature were nice. Overall, the interface is fairly intuitive and easy to navigate.
Being the realist I am, I don't just give optimistic reviews of applications -- there are definite drawbacks to this application.
For starters, given the basic editing features of the application, there's no function to delete an image. Since I tend to use the multi-shot sequence on the phone for 6 successive photos, I generally want to delete 3-5 of the images I take, but this application has no way to delete an image. Having to exit to an explorer application to actually delete the photo is a waste of time.
Secondly, there's no customization for the slide show. Like the Google Screen-saver application, the slide show slowly zooms and pans an image in slide show mode. While this is nice, there's no way to customize the controls or delay between photos. And frankly, on a 320x240 screen, there's only so much detail to really look at.
Finally, in single image mode, you can zoom in on an image, but you can't pan around once you've started zooming -- left/right controls change the photo, and up/down controls change the picture controls from zoom mode to effects mode.
Still, it's a pretty fast image browser, and I recommend it. The price tag ("free") was worth the 5 minutes of my time to fill in their survey.

Just wondering if anyone at all has the CBA or install file for this program? I missed the freebie survey by one day, and have wanted to try this out because of the amount of photos I store on my Bj2.
Any help is appreciated.
