I've changed my Blackjack II for a completely different smartphone, and will no longer be supporting this site. I've sent a message to David who runs http://www.myblackjack2.com/ to see if he wants to merge the content from this site to his own. If he agrees to the terms (content for free, domains transferred to him for free), I'll also point this domain name to his site. So if you come back one day and suddenly see a blank and pink site, you'll know why.

Windows Mobile 6.1 is Available, got it working!
Hey all,
After three calls to Samsung Tier 3 Support, I finally heard what the problem was with the WM61 update software.
DISABLE YOUR ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE!
They don't mention it anywhere in their instructions, but once I disabled ClamAV and Norton, I started up the Samsung ROM Update software again and sure enough, it prompted me for the two 4-digit codes, and away it went.
It took about 20 minutes to complete, I'll post a photo later of what the BJ2 screen looks like during the update, and the first boot was a little sluggish, but overall, it seemed to work just fine.
Samsung recommends doing a factory reset of the phone once the ROM is updated, so I'm going to do that right now, and then reinstall all of my beloved applications, like Dashwire to get all of my contacts, etc., back on the phone.
Windows Mobile 6.1 is Available
As many other sites have already noted yesterday, the Windows Mobile 6.1 update is now available from Samsung.
Since I use XP, I'm going to outline my experience with XP so far:
The instruction page is found at this URL:
http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG...
To get started, you must visit the download page at:
https://techtrain.samsungwireless.com/tekweb/techpage/Support/Downloads/...
(which opens in a new browser/tab)
On that page, you must accept the EULA which then refreshes that new window back to the instruction page and opens yet another window with a link to actually download the XP software from this URL:
https://techtrain.samsungwireless.com/tekweb/techpage/Support/Downloads/...

hosting server move
Hey all,
Might have a tiny bit of downtime today as I transition blackjack2.info to a new hosting server.
I'm also working on a .mobi version of the site for you to download news/forum posts in a BJ2-friendly size. I'll post more about bj2.mobi when it's completed.
Good Review of BJ2 with Windows Mobile 6.1
Matthew Miller at ZDNET wrote up a very thorough review of the BJ2 running Windows Mobile 6.1. While the bulk of his review talks about the features of the BJ2 overall, he does mention the features of Windows Mobile 6.1 quite a bit.

Skyfire Beta Review
After downloading the CAB directly onto my BJ2 via Opera Mobile, I installed the program and launched it right away. It prompted me for the Email address and password I used to register as part of the beta program. It immediately returned with a message that a data connection to skyfire was lost, and promptly exited for me.
I restarted the browser from the start menu, and the program takes a handful of seconds to load (slower than Opera Mobile in my experience), but loaded a home page once it started up.
Skyfire Beta Download
I was notified today of the Skyfire Beta download for the BJ2. Since it's still in sorta-kinda-pre-Beta stage, I don't really want to publish the URL for everyone.
I'll follow up with a review soon.
